WEEK 4: MY EXPERIENCE WITH TWITTER

     At the beginning of this class we had to create a twitter account. I had never before created a twitter account. The only social media I was familiar with was Facebook. I have to admit that I was doubtful ,as to how enriching social media could be for my professional development. I have to consider that I am not currently working in the education field, therefore I was not aware how social media can be a powerful professional tool for educators. Most of my experience with social media has only been Facebook. I have to admit that I have closed my Facebook account numerous times because I tend to loose control and over use it. One of the main reasons I always reactivate my Facebook account is because I use it as a mean of communication with many family  in Mexico. I use Facebook to keep in touch with many family in Mexico and friends. I personally prefer no social media because I hate over using it when I can be doing something more productive. 

     I always limited my self to only Facebook because I felt like one social media was enough, therefore during this class, I opened my first twitter account. This account has been more than just  a social interaction.Its focus on education and self professional enrichment has been great. I have to say that I was not aware of how helpful twitter can be in a professional way. I have found twitter to be a great mediator between professionals in the education field. I was not expecting to benefit as much as I have with twitter. I have to say that up to today twitter has been a self enriching social media. I love how one can connect with other educators or professionals in the education field. I have found very powerful insight and resources. I have found twitter to be a very powerful technology tool for educators. twitter not only lets educators build relationships but also it allows the sharing of ideas and tools and or resources among each other.

     It is safe to say that my perspective towards social media has been changed, I was able to realize that social media is not only a way to get distracted and loose time , but in fact I learned that it can be very enriching if one makes a good and purposefully usage of it. I have to conclude that social media can be a very self enriching resource for educators. I fell in love with twitter.

     Google classroom has been impressing to me. Creating an account is easy and the format is simple and easy to understand. I have to admit that, I was very skeptical at first. As a mother of five, I have issues with technology usage. I rather have my children read a book or do any activity that does not involve an electronic device. My children have limited usage time of technology at home. I tend to be close minded to technology at times. Week 2:Using Technology As A Communication Tool Between The Classroom And Home

       Communication between parents and teachers is crucial for successful learning. I strongly believe that a child's education is positively impacted when teachers and parents work as a team. When parents and teachers work in collaboration and establishing a communication bound ,learning challenges can better be addressed.As I reviewed the different programs under resources for week 2, I came across many wonderful programs that can be of great usage for classrooms. I would like to focus on those specific programs that serve as an aid for a stronger communication between the classroom and the home of the student. Two of the programs that I would love to point out are "ClassDojo" and "See Saw". These two programs serve as an aid to maintain frequent communication and parental involvement. WEEK 3: THE IMPORTANCE OF STORYTELLING.

      Storytelling has been a very popular way of sharing stories for many cultures and families. Storytelling is very appealing for it is more conversational, therefore it is more pleasing to the ear. It tends to have topics to which we can relate or identify with. culture, costumes, family stories can be passed down from generation to generation through storytelling.      Storytelling can be very powerful in education settings.It is a beautiful from of telling stories to students because it lets the teller and the listener connect at a higher level of intimacy. In the most traditional form of storytelling no books or special props are needed but pure imagination.  students are able to use their imagination and thinking skills at the same time.
